San Francisco International Airport, one of the 30 busiest airports in the world, serves over 37 million passengers per year via 22 domestic airlines. Known as the “Gateway to the West,” the airport is ideally situated on the San Francisco Bay in the heart of Northern California's biotech region. The amount of traffic in and out of the airport has given rise to a number of hotels and event venues near SFO.

For participants flying into SFO, ground transportation options are many. The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system connects SFO to San Francisco, San Mateo County and the East Bay. Caltrain is another public transportation option serving SFO, and rental cars, shared vans and taxis are readily available.
